À l’occasion du 15 mai, Journée de la francophonie au Yukon, un mot de notre évêque :

Something to celebrate: May 15 2009

The French heritage of Yukon history and present day francophone life is interwoven in the fabric of Yukon living. In 1898 when the Klondike gold rush spurred thousands of fortune seekers north to Dawson city, there were also six Sisters of Saint Ann from Lachine Quebec who arrived with their strong Quebec culture and Catholic faith to open and run the first hospital and school in the Yukon. The Oblates of Mary Immaculate many from France and Quebec arrived before the Klondike Gold Rush, as early as the 1860’s, and after to continue the mission which for them was impregnated with a great sense of pride in their French culture and zeal for the Lord. Today the French community in the Yukon is as diverse as the many provinces of France and the rich Francophone regions of Canada. The Acadian, Quebec, French  Metis and the many other francophone  cultures are together in this vast Yukon territory, making the francophone community up here rich in texture and history. Together it is a vibrant contribution in faith and culture to this land called the Yukon. On May 15 we all can celebrate with you the abundant blessings given by God.

Collecte annuelle de nourriture : Bénévoles demandés pour la « Food Drive ». 4 équipes de notre communauté ont répondu généreusement à l’appel pour aller porter les sacs dans la semaine du 18 mai et les récupérer dans la semaine du 25 mai.  Également, dans la semaine du 25 mai, lors de la cueillette, la Banque alimentaire aura besoin de bénévoles pour recevoir la marchandise. Nous comptons sur vous. Prévenez Julie au 393-BANK

Banque alimentaire : Voici l’horaire de la Banque alimentaire:

Bureau : Lundi au vendredi de 8 h 30 à 16 h

Distribution des paniers : Mardi de 10 h à 13 h et de 15 h 30 à 17 h

                                      Jeudi de 10 h à 13 h et de 15 h 30 à 18 h 30

Dépôt de nourriture :        Lundi à jeudi  de 8 h 30 à 15 h

                                       Vendredi de 8 h 30 à midi

La Banque alimentaire est à la recherche de:

1. Radio – avec lecteur CD (1)
2. Chariots (2)
3. Porte brochures à fixer au mur (3)
4. Machine à café (1)
5. Bibliothèques (2)
6. Bac en plastique transparent
7. Un ensemble de table et chaises pour enfant
8. Ordinateur ou portable (2)
9. Livres et jouets pour enfants (propres et sécuritaires, S.V.P)

Une porte ouverte aura lieu le 23 mai de 11 h à 15 h.

Activités à venir : Famille de familles : La famille Broeckx sera heureuse d’animer cette rencontre avec toutes les autres familles intéressées à les rejoindre le 30 mai à 13 h. au  Mile 1, Takhini Hot Springs Road.  Pour plus d’informations, contactez le 393-4791
